Recently purchased 2000 225 Optimax. It had set up for over a year and would not start. I work mostly on Johnson/Evinrude, and this is my first Optimax. Ran auto diagnostic with a DDT, all systems pass and no faults. Cleaned out the varnish in the vapor seperator. Still not starting. No fuel at the test point on the stbd. fuel rail. Checked fuel from vapor seperator to low pressure pump. Fuel supply good. Checked to make sure fuelpump turns on when key is in the run position. It activates for the 2 seconds as per service manual. Pulled hose from top of low pressure fuelpump to the vapor seperator. With the key in the run position, there is no fuel out the low pressure pump. My manual states 6-9 psi out of the pump to the high pressure pump. I've tried with the key on and also cranking, still no fuel out. I've even tried another low pressure pump, with the same results. Am I missing something with my reading of the service manual? Stumped in Florida.

The fuel supply to the low pressure pump comes from the vapor separator after it goes thru the water separating filter. Assuming you have good fuel supply from the primer bulb to the hose from the block mounted pulse pump to the fitting over the filter, I would check (or replace) the spin off water separating filter for flow then I would look at the float inside the vapor separator, maybe that float needle is stuck shut? After sitting up that could be gummed up and stuck? Also water in the filter could block flow?

As stated in the original post, I am getting flow from the vapor seperator to the low pressure pump.I even ran a fuel line directly to the low pressure pump, by passing the vapor seperator, just to see what happens. Same thing, no fuel out of the low pressure pump.

OK my bad, Well if there is fuel to the pump inlet, and it is a known good pump and it runs, the only thing I can think of the complies with the laws of physics is the pump running backwards.

do you have a anti syphon valve on youe fuel tank...just a thought...try hooking up a portable fuel tank and isolate the boat supply...get me...its what i do on just about every fuel problem from the get go
