Me and all my buddies have gone as far as we can with my truck's engine... I need help. Again. Here's wha-happend: It was running like a champ Saturday, it sat all day Sunday, tried to start it today and it turned over but sounded labored like the battery was weak. Tried it again and just got this whirring sound. Charged & cleaned the battery (it was fine). Watched the fan from the cab and it did not spin when I turned it over so I figured the starter wasn't engaging. I set about installing a new one. That made no change other than it looks better than the old one. I forgot about that stupid liquid clutch fan not turning til it's hot. The engine was turning over the whole time but all I heard was the starter. There was none of that "Nuh-nuh-nuh" sound that you normally hear. Just the sound of the starter and the engine doesn't shake at all but it is turning over. Pulled a plug/got spark. Put finger over plug hole/got compression. Watched valvetrain from oil fill hole/valves are moving. Depressurized fuel line, turned engine over agiain/got fuel pressure. Sprayed starter fluid into throttle body while cranking/Nothing.
The only thing I can think of is that the timing chain slipped a cog, the computer is fragged or something has gone wrong with that crankshaft position gizmo but even then it should have hit once or twice, even if it's 180 out. Especially if it's sparking with mouthfull of ether.
Any ideas as to what to try next? It's a 2000 Silverado 2wd.
Thanks,
