2000 90hp Yamaha trim problem

I have a 90hp 2000 yamaha and the power trim wont work it just clicks was working last week but now it does nothing, the motor will turn over fine and all the other electronics work. Any ideas? All the fuses i could find were okay none were blown. Any ideas to help trouble shoot will be appreciated. Thank you.

Just had the same problem with my suziki. Make sure your battery terminals and connections are SUPER clean and tight. IF not wire brush clean and tighten.

If this doesn't work it also could be a bad solenoid (that's what you're hearing click).

I cleaned and then re cleaned every wire terminal to do with the trim motor so I don't think that's the problem. When I hit up or down the pump gargles like it's trying to do something. The oil looked low in the resiviour, is there some type of sensor that would make the trim motor not function if the oil level is low? I guess worst case I will just have to replace the pump itself.

It might be leaking,any slick on the water around the stern?If the unit is slick w oil its leaking. You need to bleed/add fluid to the pump.A shop manual for your motor can be found at Yamahas website if you want to do some of your own matainence.if its leaking at the piston an O ring is broke and youll need to fix that or it will pollute and leak back down quickly.

I replaced the relay assembly and now all the electrical is working properly and there is the correct amount of fluid in the reservoir. So i guess that means the motor it self is shot, so we are going to order a new one and replace it our selfs. My question is, Do i have to remove the motor from the boat to replace the trim motor. It seems that the back two bolts can't be reached without removing the motor since they are resting right on the transom. Any advice will help thank you.

some motors may have to be taken off and some don't. if you can get to it without taking the motor off great. my friend had to replace his and the 3rd screwin the back was hard to get to but he did it, he's a mech too. you may be able to just take the whole assembly ( piston motor and everything ) off and work on it at a table if that is easier.
