2000 Johnson 175 oil tank placement ?

How far from the engine can you mount the oil tank ? I have a cuddy cabin and it would mount nice under the step in the cabin , if thats not to far . Its about a 16 ' run to the engine !

Actually the oil reservoir is recommended to be mounted well forward of the bilge area to prevent it from getting swamped and getting water in the oil. Can't tell you though right off the top of my head how far is to far.

Good question. I can't remember right off the top of my head but there is a spec based on resistance in a 5/16" hose. However in the accessory catalog the replacement oil hose (listed specifically for oil tanks) comes in 25' rolls so we'd assume that 25' would fall in their spec.

Obviously if you move the tank, mark the tank and verify the useage vs. the gas burned. Add oil to the gas while you're verifying everything.

Dale....either I'm blind when looking at the stuff or I'm assuming and not looking.....think I said that right....but I thought oil line was more like 1/4" ID.:/

The flow is so slow that 25' shouldn't be a problem at all. I wouldn't try to lift more than about 6 feet though. Don't know how effecient the pump is.

If I streched it out that far, I think for sure I'd squeeze the primer ball before starting up cold and check the alarms often.
