I have a 2000 yamaha that has an alarm that goes off at rpm's over 4200. I replaced the water pump in Aug 2009, for maintenance. My last 2 trips an alarm goes off and engine starts missing. Yesterday I replaced the thermostats and poppit valve with Yamaha parts. The old t-stats and poppit valve were not clogged or corroded, looked almost new. It has a strong stream of water idling or running at any rpm's. I took the cowling off and felt both heads and they were warm, but not hot enough not to touch. I will restart in less han 1 minute and run below 4200 rpm's and I have no alarm. Any ideas?
