Check your oil tank on the motor. When it gets to the bottom line on the tank the alarm will go off. Check your main tank electric pump and make sure it?s working. Disconnect it and take it to12 volts. If it doesn?t run then replace it. If it runs then then check the small filter and make sure its clear.if it is you have wiring or float problems.

thanks for the info. I know where both tanks are located but i do not know where the pump or the filter is located?

The electric oil pump is located on the backside of the large tank. The one you pour your oil into. You have to pull the tank out of its bracket to see the pump. Don?t worry about pulling it out oil wont come gushing out.

there is a much easier way to troubleshoot the system, one is to learn how it works.
by your statement that the manual transfer wont work its down to several easy issues. you have lost the ground path from the remote tank to the engine block, Blue wire, you have lost 12+ supply at key on from the splice just aft of the 10 pin enine harness, brown wire, the pump is defective or the filter is stopped completly( clooged filter you will hear the pump run yet no oil will flow.
anytime the key is on the brown wire at the pump has 12V+, use your multimeter and check it from the bullet connector on the pump( these fail to so inspect them) to the engine block, then shift to the Ohms scale and test the ground path, run from the bullet connector at the pump(blue wire) to the tank side of the emergency switch connector, should have less than 1 ohm, then go to the block side and repeat, should have less than 1 Ohm with switch acuated. then go to the engine block, should have less than 1 ohm.
all the emergency switch does is manually complete the ground path for the pump run circuit.
tank filter re[placement is actually a yearly or every 200 hour maint action.

Way to much information for a non tech. I think he needs slower steps. This is getting old rodbolt. I like helping the folks but I can quit any time. Just say the word.

no need to quit nor get huffy.
however why unplug the pump leads, jump it, find out the pump works then post it works then we gotta explain how to test a simple DC circuit anyway, troubleshoot it once, troubleshoot it correctly and the ENTIRE precision blend system can be tested in 20 minutes with a radioshack digital voltmeter. if you dont own one nor care to learn how to use it your stuck paying a dealer rate.
its as simple as that.
I decent do it yourself radioshack meter that accepts a DVA adapter can be had for less than 35 dollars, an even more basic digital with auto ranging can be had for about 12 dollars.
nice thing about digital is for voltage or most Ohms readings its not polarity sensitive, unless checking diodes, transistors or certain other solid state devices.
with some solid state devices imput impedance must match the specs that the measurement was based on.
however this aint one of those cases.
if the poster has a technical question on how to use a meter I can answer that as well, however as he/she is attempting to repair a very precision machine I have to make one of two assumptions, either thay are clueless or they need an assist with wire colors and whats happening when the key is on.
I prefer they know how to use basic test equipment and are not clueless.
I have posted here a week or so, I find most posters can actually use test equipment if pointed in the right direction

Re: 2000 Yamaha 150 Outboard Oiling Problem

we also have an oil transfer problem on our 150 txry yr 2000
our emergency switch operates the boat tank oil pump but the system
will not auto transfer.
let me see if i understand this, if the emergency switch works
(completing the ground) then the brown (12v) wire at the key switch
must be supplying 12 volts to the main oil tank oil pump. the problem
must be that the main oil tank pump is not getting the negative
side of the circuit from either the engine mounted oil pump float switch
or the wiring between the two is damaged or the connections are
broken or dirty. ??
