Ok guys I have a problem and looks major. I have 2001 250 ox66. I had what was looking like water on the two top plugs. We I say top two plugs I mean the top one on the port bank and top one on the starboard bank. One time it will look like there is water and some time it don't. Then I run the boat just a little yesterday trying to figure out if there is a water problem or not. Well I got my answer. Compresstion is good by the way with all cyclinders being within 3 pounds of one another. I was at the house washing the motors out with the factory wash down. I said well i'm going to pull the plugs out and see what they look like and they look like they had some water on them. But when the pressure built up water stater started coming from the plug holes. Just on the top two. So then I said must be head gaskets, pulled the heads and the gaskets looked ok. Looked over the block good no cracks. So this is the big question where CAN the water be coming from????????????????????

The head gaskets weren't bad. I have had these motors for about three years and they are fresh water washed out every time. The head aren't corroded at all and the block doesn't look bad. I though it was the head gaskets my self found it a little weird that it was on the top plug on both sides. really weird to me also. Thanks again for all the help!!!

someone told me it could be a leaking exhaust baffle for something like that. What do you think about? If so where are they at? I can't seem to located them. He said that would answer the puzzle about why the top cylinder on each bank. Thanks

no exhaust baffles or divider plates on that engine.
its all part of the block casting.
the only thing behind that plate between the cyl banks is the ex tubes, its a water jacket.

With there not being any exhaust baffles it's sounds like to me it has to be the head, head gasket, water jacket gaskets, or crack block. I looked and looked at a part diagram of that motor and couldn't never find a exhaust baffle. I do have one part on the block right below the sleeve that concerns me. On the port bank on that top cyl on the bottom right below the sleeve there is a place about 1/4 of and inch x 1/8 inch deep that is corroded away. The sleeve looks flat and true. It looks like it should get a good seal on the sleeve. If there any way to fix that part that is corrored away. It is only on that one cyl. The one on the starboard bank looks fine. I think i'm going to go have both head milled to make sure there true. Thanks again rodbolt for the help. Jimmy

One more thing rodbolt. If the head gaskets were leaking wouldn't that show up in the compression numbers? The compression numbers were all within 3 pounds of one another.
