Hello All,

I just picked up a 01 welcraft 24 WA.. Great looking boat but had a couple of questions fr others that may have a sim boat..

I was thinking about putting the engine on a bracket until I called around and heard it was a 6 to 7 K job. The suggestion was to just raise the transom up and get the merc lower unit kit that extents it from 25inch to 30inch. That would cost about 2K.
Anyone have any experience with that or have done it?

Was also looking to put a plano storage cab under the captains seat because its empty space or just a door and make it a little storage for anything. Anyone do that already and how did you like it?

I'll post some pics of the boat tomorrow of the areas as well, but currently very stock.

In general looking for some ideas like that for the transom and extra storage ideas.

Thanks All for reading !

I have an "open" transom on my boat. In all the years I've owned it, I've not had a single situation where five more inches of transom height would have made a difference one way or the other.

I've had a splash well full of water a number of times........nothing concerning.

IMHO, do it right or not at all.
Either glass the cutout completely and add the bracket or sell the boat and buy one with an enclosed transom and a bracket.

Thanks!
The boat I want is a little out of my reach lol. Seriously though love the boat and configuration. Just looking at different options seeing what others might have done after owning the boat for a while.

Great thanks for the reply. My trophy I use to have, had the same open transom config and never had a problem. was curious after talking with a few people.
