I bought 2 saltwater outboards from a DOJ/DEA auction. I sent them to a local mechanic for evaluation and found out the 250 Yamaha had a hole in a cylinder wall. Would this outboard be worth replacing the power head? Is there a good place to get a block or should I sell the whole thing for parts?

Too little info and too many questions. Can the block be sleeved? I have seen these available on eBay and at salvage yards either blocks only or rebuilt powerheads.

These questions are for a 2001 Yamaha, 250 HP EFI Saltwater Series II, Model SX250TXRZ OX66 S/N 61AX107140s with a 25" shaft length.

I do not intend to keep the motor I bought it to sell.

Ultimately the only question is should I spend more money to fix it or dump it for parts?
