jeff,if you disconnect the shift interrupter switch and install the jumper then run the boat and it doesn't die, it is the 555 ecm that has the problem.not the switch.i have had this several times in late 02 and early 03.when you run the boat with the shift interrupter disconnected do it away from the docks ,etc as it will be very hard to shift back to neutral once in gear.you may have to shut the engine off to get it back to neutral.if it ends up the ecm get with mercruiser and i'll bet they will recalibrate the ecm ,but it has to be done thru a dealer.this jumper can be found on bravo engines of the same vintage if you don't want to make one.
