Hey all, so I finally decided to start working on this 2002 Johnson 9.9 4 stroke I've had sitting around for about four years now. It's been sittings around because when I was driving home from the lake one day it kicked off the boat and hit the pavement and ruined a lot of the lower unit parts.
I finally got working on it this week and it started up first pull, without any carb cleaning or work done to it, so I was pretty impressed.
However, now that I've got it all buttoned back together and running in a barrel I noticed it was getting pretty hot or what I thought was hot, about 140?. So I shut it down and checked the oil and it was little lot so topped it off and accidentally went a little over.
I started up again and was still getting hot so I removed dipstick and I was getting a lot of blow by. Wondering if could possibly have some internal damage from the fall on pavement. Have 100psi on each cylinder so don't rhink anything is wrong with cylinders, pistons, or block. Also, thinking it's getting hot because stupid me forgot to change impeller when it was off for 4 years and it's probably bad now.
