I just purchased a boat with a 2002 115 4 stroke merc, the previous owner had a electric low pressure fuel pump running between the tank and motor with the factory diaphragm pump bypassed. he said that the factory pump was bad. I purchased a new pump and installed... but it seems that there is something missing that drives the plunger on the mechanical pump.Is the pump ran directly off of the cam or is there something that should be between the pump and camshaft. looking in the hole in the valve cover the camshaft is visible.I have the service manual but the diagram is vague in showing al parts involved.
