2002 Merc 50 HP EFI....trouble!!

My 2002 Merc 50 EFI periodically sets off the "constant" alarm and peters out. Then restarts fine and runs well for a long period b4 doing it again. Nerve racking when out on big water. Cooling water running fine, and I believe the oil pressure is OK. Any other ideas??<br /><br />Also, can this motor be hooked up to a computer analyzer to see what has set off the alarms, or other past event review??<br /><br />Thanks

It can be hooked up to the DDT but with that motor it won't say much. Is the motor physically getting hot?

Nick....no it is not getting hot...have checked and monitored that. If I do hook it up to a DDT, what might it tell me? I can not find any info on this even after an extensive web search. Also, where can I get a DDT??<br /><br />Thanks...Bill
