so i have had a rough idle problem,I have rebuild the carbs, fuel pump, replaced the trigger, stator, swapped cdm modules and now I cut the cyl 3 and cyl 2 kill switch wire blk/white and have noticed when I turn the motor off with the switch it stayed running cyl number 1 is still firing? is this normal? also while trying to time it seems to lose the spark-while looking at the timing light the timing seems to go completely off the numbers? like it goes out of time? when the ignition is turned off shouldn't the motor turn off.notre cyl 1 is still connected to the kill switch.

I believe there is something wired wrong...the more is not suppose to continue firing after the switch is turned off..I would look into the key switch, it starts from there.

Look at your fuel delivery system. Chased a rough idle or a couple months....turned out to be the fuel line running from my tank to me engine, and also the fuel line connector had issues. Changed them out and all is well. Just a thought.
