2003 Evinrude 115 FPX HUGE PROBLEM / NO OIL ALARM

Thanks for helping<br />Well here is my long story / problem<br />I have a 2003 Aquasport Osprey 200 w/Evinrude 115 FPX<br /><br />When we picked up the boat and took it out for the first time the NO OIL light and alarm came on after about 5 min... I took the boat back to the dealer and they said that the tech forgot remove some plug. And they fixed it<br />2nd / 3rd time out was fine, only about 5/6hrs total time <br />4th time out NO OIL ALARM came on again and the engine died. But it restarted once I shut it off and turned it back on I toped off the oil and continued. But it kept on happening, usually around 4500 to 5000 RPM<br /><br />I took the boat back to the dealer and a week later I was told there was nothing wrong with the boat/engine.<br /><br />So I took it out for the 5th time and guess what IT HAPPENED AGAIN.<br />The dealer has had the boat for almost a week and now they tell me they have to water test it to find out what the problem is / even if there is any problem <br /><br />Has anyone ever had this problem if so give me a idea what could possible be wrong<br /><br />The dealer is the only aquasport dealer in the area so I can’t even take it to some place else... i think they are giving me the run around<br /><br />ONCE AGAIN THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP<br /><br />CELL

hmmm<br />dealer just call and said i seem to have a intermittend problem but they doint know what it is yet

The dealer may not be giving you the runaround - - - yet as these motors are quite complex and sometimes it is tough to find a problem.<br /><br />What bothered me about your post though was:<br /><br />"NO OIL ALARM came on again and the engine died. But it kept on happening, usually around 4500 to 5000 RPM"<br /><br />That is a big No No. You may have damaged the motor by continuing to run it after the no oil alarm went off especially at 4500 - 5000 RPM. A 2 cycle can cook quick without proper oil.

What????????????????? I sure hope that one of the true experts on this site chimes in on this. I sure would want to get confirmation on your dealers advice before I followed it.

Ask your dealer to call the dealer tech service hot line in Waukegan and ask about "burping" the oil pressure sensor switch. Also, your tech should examine the pressure switch leads and connector pins for oil migrating down the wires. If so, the switch needs replacing. This is assuming that the oil system was rigged correctly and was primed and bled before starting the engine. This also assumes that there are no kinks or air leakage in the oil supply line from the remote tank.

dealer said there was a crimp in the oil line .. now they are ordering me one<br /><br />dont know how they dident find it the first 3 times i brought it in

cellularguy - did this fix your problem? I am having the same problem with my 2002 F-115. I have had it back to the dealer three times, the last time they put on a new oil pump, but when I took it out today I got the "no oil" light again after 10 minutes. <br /><br />I don't know if it is the dealer or the motor that is bad.

cellularguy <br /><br />Make sure you have all this well documented just in case there is a problem in the future. If I read this right, the motor was starved for oil at high RPM's. That cannot be good... Keep good repair records and notes of all conversations with the Mechanics and dates...
