Hello all,
I've been reading this forum for several years but I don't believe I've ever posted a question. Anyway, here goes. I bought a boat from craigslist and it has the 40hp 4 stroke motor. The problem is that the boat was in a storm and the dock beat the crap out of the motor. The upper and lower cowlings were broken and the motor's wiring is ripped up in several places. I really got a great deal on the boat and trailer and the guy basically threw in the motor because it was so damaged. The motor has very low hours and the guy said it ran flawlessly when the storm got it.
Here's my request. I have no idea if I'm going to try to repair the motor or if I'm just going to part it out and buy another outboard. I would really like to repair this one if I can keep the cost down to a reasonable level of $500 or so not counting the cowlings. What I need is someone with the same motor to take 3 or 4 photos of the motor with the cover off. I already have the part number for the seloc manual from iboats and will order it if I decide that the motor can be repaired without too much fuss.
So, could anyone help me out by taking a few pics under the hood of their 40 HP 4 stroke merc? I would really appreciate it.
