2003 Mercrusier 5.7 350Mag MPI vs. 2001 Mercrusier 5.7 EFI?

I am looking at a couple old Chaparrals. The older one has the EFI (throttle body injection?), while the newer one has a plastic cover on it that says 350Mag. The 2001 looks to have a little better kept interior, though the newer one has the 350Mag under the "hood". If I understand correctly the EFI has 260HP, while the 350 Mag MPI has 300HP. Is there things I should know about the two pros/cons? Is the MPI better with fuel consumption? What are your guys thoughts?

Get which ever one was better taken care of. MPI is better preforming but TBI is nothing to look past. What we all want is a motor we don't have to fix very often. So far as gas, they will both use a lot, MPI a bit less if its working correctly but not much

If fuel economy is high on your list you may consider other hobbies than power boating.

As stated, best option is the one in better shape, less hours, proven routine maintenance, etc....

More so looking to splitting hairs. As it is now, I have enough of a challenge of burning through a whole tank of gas in a season. My wife prefers hanging out at the sand bar.
