2004 Johnson 25 H.P. 2-Cycle

I have a 2004 Johnson 25 H.P. 2-stroke, and I understand that it may be one of the last of its kind. I love that motor, and it's kind of sad that it's the end of an era for 2-stroke carburated outboards of this size. BRP is not offering much for Johnson anymore -- is this the end of the Johnson brand? Will the Evinrude brand totally take over? I haven't seen and e-tec 25 or 30 H.P. outboard to take the place of the Johnsons. And I heard that BRP is discontinuing the 25 and 30 H.P.4-strokes from Suzuki, too! So what's the future of the Johnson brand of outboard, and is there an e-tec 25 horse in the future or not?

All things come to pass. Hang in there! Don't look at it as the end. Look at it as a new beginning. The entire marine industry is going through some rather serious changes and it will take time to shake things out. Johnson and Evinrude have been the same (except for paint) for years so if the Johnson name disappears, Evinrude will move on. You just put their name on your check for a new motor instead of Johnson.

Can anyone give a brief history of the OMC family? <br />Strikes me its badge engineering bed-partners like Peugeot/Citroen cars (PSA group) who share many major components (ie engines, electrics, chassis) but use different bodies. <br /><br />It seems from what I've read so far that Evinrude/Johnson are doing a Rolls Royce/VW. D'oh.

It's sad.........it's really sad! This is my third Johnson. They all served me well and never left me stranded. It's like losing a good and faithful friend.
