I have a 2004 yamaha 150 4 stroke that has ran great until a few days ago. While idling, it will just shut off after about 2-3 minutes and will only go about half speed when throttled all the way. I'm hoping it might be something simple like trash in the fuel line but from what I've been reading it could be any number of things. Just had the yearly service done about a month and a half ago and the dealer said everything looked great. Hope he didn't miss something. I would appreciate any pointers.

Thanks

I was having a problem with my yamaha F150. It would not go over 3300 RPM's, and it would just stall during idle, I thought it was just an ethanol problem, just restricting the fuel to the engine. I took it in the shop, and they agreed, but after doing a full diagnostic, they discovered that the powerhead was blown.

That sends up red flags to me. Sounds like the dealer might have made a mistake, and messed something up. Just because they are the dealer does not mean the have the best technicians money can buy. Sounds like it is might be in "limp" mode.
Check the basics, like oil level and tell tale stream. If you have a compression gauge, run a compression check. Is it making any unusual noises? Did you pull the pluggs and look at them? I have seen these yammies short out in the harness and cause a fuel injector to stick open. A super wet plug would be indicitaive of that. Good luck, and above all if it is still under warranty, make it the dealers problem
