I have a 2005 Crestliner 1850 Sport Fish and the paint on the metal trim piece under the glove compartment has flaked and peeled off. No place else on the boat just there.

I could probably complain to Crestliner but then what? Send the boat back for repair?

Any Ideas?

My 2005 1950SF SST also flaked on the dash. Local dealer repainted in 2006, OK since. However I have had serious flaking and bubbling of the paint on the hull. Crestliner repainted this spring (2007), and when I pulled it from the water this weekend (Sept 16/07) the blistering is back. Have you had similar problems or are you aware of others that may have?

They must be doing something different. My 1996 has no paint flaking off anywhere. Crestliner will stand behind their boat and make it right.

They have just replied and said that it is my problem, but will help me to find the cause of "your" problem quote:

"You know by review of your warranty, galvanic corrosion, oxidation, or electrolysis is not covered due to the fact that we cannot control specific environmental conditions as well as stray current outside the vessel. Because Crestliner values you as a customer, we agreed to bring your boat back to the factory last fall to do a through inspection of your boat and check all wiring. The result was no failure in the boat. So we proceeded to repaint your boat bottom, transom, and sides as goodwill. The paint was tested and was all between 3.5 mils and 4 mils of paint which is above our standard.

We then contacted the dealer to return your boat with recommendations on how to care for it and possibly prevent future problems. Such as boat lift, remove boat when not in use, raise SS prop out of water, etc.

Crestliner feels this is related to your environment where the boat is moored and is not a failure in the product. And as goodwill Crestliner will continue to work with you and your dealer to help you find the cause of your problem."

What is ironic is that there are aluminum boats on docks on properties all around me. In fact the Trailside dealers father has 2 Crestliners in the water 2 properties over, with similar motors and props??

So much for standing behind their product
