Re: 2005 1850SF Paint Flaking Off
They have just replied and said that it is my problem, but will help me to find the cause of "your" problem quote:
"You know by review of your warranty, galvanic corrosion, oxidation, or electrolysis is not covered due to the fact that we cannot control specific environmental conditions as well as stray current outside the vessel. Because Crestliner values you as a customer, we agreed to bring your boat back to the factory last fall to do a through inspection of your boat and check all wiring. The result was no failure in the boat. So we proceeded to repaint your boat bottom, transom, and sides as goodwill. The paint was tested and was all between 3.5 mils and 4 mils of paint which is above our standard.
We then contacted the dealer to return your boat with recommendations on how to care for it and possibly prevent future problems. Such as boat lift, remove boat when not in use, raise SS prop out of water, etc.
Crestliner feels this is related to your environment where the boat is moored and is not a failure in the product. And as goodwill Crestliner will continue to work with you and your dealer to help you find the cause of your problem."
What is ironic is that there are aluminum boats on docks on properties all around me. In fact the Trailside dealers father has 2 Crestliners in the water 2 properties over, with similar motors and props??
So much for standing behind their product
