9.4 to 10.1 , yes that would cause det without reflashing the ECM.

When you first posted, I'm thinking standard rebuild, but if your opening it up, adding a cam, and then not using a wide band AFR meter, your asking for trouble. If you are running it at 4200 for long periods that can wipe out the bearings for a new motor. You don't have a flat tappet cam that I'm aware of.

Its getting more interesting finding out more info as we go along

Talk to mefi Bob about your engine specs, have him remap your ecu for it.

Not remapping the ECU would/could explain the first to engines since they had the higher compression pistons. Engine 3 was box stock internals with the 9.4: CR. Engines one and two had the stock cam with roller lifters, and engine three had stock cam with flat lifters.

Engine completed and on the dyno, firing it up tomorrow. Purchased the cable and programming software from OBD. Wish me luck.

did you spring for coated bearings? what are your rod and mains clearances?
