2005 90hp tlrd wont idle

hey guys new here and i have searched and read alot prior to posting, heres my issue

i bought a 2005 24 ft sylvan pontoon with a 90 hp yamaha, it has 19 hours on her and shes sat quite awhile 2 yrs at best guess,. the first thing i did was drain the tank and flush out the fuel lines, pulled the carbs and the floats were stuck/gummed up on the bottom 2, top was empty and clean. i cleaned the jets and bowls, needle and seats. she starts right up and i took her out, surges on the top end @3500 rpms+ so i brought her back in and recleaned the carbs, found i missed the main jet on the bottom carb so i reassembled and resarted ok but now she wont idle so well, i took her out anyways to try to burn off some of the residual fuel and she goes full thottle but will only idle when the idle enrichment ajustment is closed. wont start in normal or open positions.. any ideas?

maybe idle jet still plugged. did you synchronize carbs after cleaning? do you have a water/fuel seperator? check fuel system from tank pickup, fittings, primer bulb, quick disconnect on front of motor, fuel filter, fuel pump.

did you reset the idle screw on the side of the middle carb after you had them off for cleaning?

it sounds like is the Prime Start system is not functioning properly.
It is suppose to close off the extra fuel after the motor starts and the alternator sends voltage to the heater unit which expands the wax pellet and extends the needle to close off the passage

as far as the fuel lines are concerned, i think im golden but ill double check...


ill check the prime starter tonight and check it out, it has two wires, one to ground and one to alt correct? i may have a poor ground. i hope thats the issue. ill post an update but im still open to all other ideas. thnaks guys

The fuel pumps and lines will more than likely have the same gunk in them and will keep ending up in the carbs unless you clean them good also and then make sure the carbs are good and clean after. Make sure you do a link and sync on the carbs when all is said and done.

well i pullled them apart and checked all my furl lines and everything was super clean i havent had a chance to start her up but ill try in the morning

did you check the enrichment pump diaphram as well as the enrichment solinoid as per the service manual.
do you understand how the prime start system works.
