I took apart my engine to hone cylinder #2. Now I have to assembly the lower crankcase to the cylinder block. I don't think there is a gasket, but do I need to coat the surfaces with some type of liquid gasket sealant?

You need a sealer

Thanks! I used gasket Maker and it seemed to work (a little of the stuff squished out all around).

Liquid gasket maker will not hold up. Use Yamabond and stand the block upright for 24 hours after bolting the halves together
