Scribe a reference mark on the prop and re-check for a spun hub. If thats ok check the cable adjustment. With the remote control in neutral remove the engine hood and check the sliding shifter assembly on the starboard side. There is a reference mark on the assembly that will index with the shifter cable attaching point when the cable is adjusted correctly.

took to yami mechanic, he said clutch dogs or drive shaft? tried brand new prop and hub and made mark but not that also checked adjustment and seems ok but it does seem that when in neutral and sitting on trailer that when i spin prop it clicks? but if i slightly move the shifter it quits? how do i remove the lower unit on this and to check shaft? no chunks but some silver in the oil! thanks for any help

ps fishing was terrible only 1- 23" walleye and 1-19" small mouthe, bunch of small pike

Inspect your cable at the motor to make sure it is adjusted correctly ,,the shift cables will stretch over time.Make sure linkage shifts cables completely in gear.

looked at linkage and all looks good, i can visually see under front of engine the shift point and it seems all the way in! dropped lower unit off this morning> left it in forward and the shaft seems to be totally in forward! now i have lower unit on my work bench what should i do now? how do i remove the drive shaft out of lower unit? i have prop off at this point as well!

ps pike awsome fighters

This is where you really need to get a Service manual, so you can see what steps and tools are needed to take apart and put back together properly.
Once you read what is needed you can make the decision as to whether on not you want to do it yourself or take it to a professional
