In the Spring, I had my drive pulled and all fluids changed. I noticed last time out that my trim gauge is showing that my drive will not go all the way down/in. I can tell a performance difference as well because I get more bow rise on take off and the drive cavitates just after take off and before getting on plane. What should I check on the trim sender to ensure the drive is going all the way down?

It sounds like you trim your boat by gauge alone, Forget the trim sender/gauge for a minute and just run the drive all the way down by SOUND not gauge. You should hear the sound change as the pump bottoms out. Then try running the boat and trimming until the boat sounds right and is trimmed properly. If you can do that by feel and looking at the tach and speed and angle of the boat. Then you know the trim actually works.

It's possible all you need to do is adjust the trim sender if the trim actually works ok. Pulling the outdrive should have anything to do with the trim sender changing. Did your shop change bellows or anything?

Dvan, I've been using the sound method on my Splendor since I purchased it last October......

Dvan - I have Twin 2006 Bravo IIIs. I noticed the same issue last season. My port trim gauge now never goes below 1/4. The drive was checked over the winter, all is fine. I just go by the feel/sound method and ignore the gauge.

Re: 2007 Mercruiser with Bravo III - Trim question

So I went out the other day and checked and the trim is "bottoming out" so it is indeed going all the way down. I must have been more weighted down than I had thought which was causing it. I took it out a couple days ago and it ran as expected. Don't get me wrong, I do not rely on the trim gauge, but I do reference it from time to time, but when underway I go by look, feel and sounds. Thanks everyone!
