2008 Merc 2 stoke not pumping enough fuel at idle

While trolling yesterday I noticed my motor would keep dying. I finally figured out that if I pumped the primer bulb every couple of minutes it would keep running. My thought is that the fuel pump isn't pulling/pumping enough fuel at idle to 1000 rpms. I works fine at higher rpms. Any thoughts? This is a 2008 motor with very low hours.

The boat is a Lowe fm165 and it has a under floor tank and I think it vents from the fill cap.

Is your fuel pump working correctly sometimes when they start to die you have to keep pumping the bulb cause the fuel pump is either leaking or not sucking. Alot of time venting is a issue. What size is this motor and is it carb or efi or what. If it is carb it could be numerous issues with fuel delivery.

This is a 50hp 2 stroke, carburated with very little use and it is new to be, just picked it up from Cabelas two weeks ago, it was a bank repo due to the original owner passing away and his wife let it go back to the bank.

I ran the motor in a tank this afternoon and it idled perfect for 30 minutes, no issues. So why would this be different than at the lake, when the only difference is I am at 4200 ft at home vs. 6200 ft at the lake?

big difference between idle at home, and actually having a load at the lake. I would double check the venting first, then fuel line and bulb, then the pump if all else fails. That is just my opinion, i like to start cheap and work my way up.

I went out to same lake with my new 11 P prop and the fueling issue is gone! I trolled all morning and the engine never ran out of fuel once. Boat ran much better also and I was able to troll at a slower speed.:D
