Salutations fine people..!
I have a 2008 3.0L Volvo Penta and there is a leak. I've replaced the impeller and O-ring. Water is being pumped fine, however, the part which the impeller housing screws onto, is leaking. It's the part goes around the fixed part of the belt wheel. Problem is that there is a little circular hole that looks factory made, but has water leaking out of it. I can't get at this piece as it is fixed to the wheel which is fixed to the engine. Why the heck would they put a hole in there ? How do I stop that leak?? Did it rust open if it is suppose to be closed? Is it actually suppose to be there? Can't find any other info online..

Here's a pic to better explain....

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,... They put that hole there so's you'll know the seal is gone in the pump,...

It's fixed by replacin' the pump...

This happened to me a few years ago when I was idling a lot in shallow sandy waters. I was told I need to buy a new pump, and unfortunately it's a $350 pump or so. It's caused by a leak in the small rubber seal that surrounds the spindle in there. You can buy an oil seal that will replace that seal perfectly and I ended up doing that last year. This year, unfortunately it's leaking again. I'm going to try to replace it once or twice more before I buy the new pump. I'll try to find the part again to post it on here so if anybody else wants to try it out you can.
