Opinions on going with a either a 6 cylinder or 4 cylinder 200HP OB. The boat is rated for a 225 max HP. I'm considering the Yamaha 200HP (6 cyl) weight=583 lbs or the Mercury Verado 200 HP (4 cyl) weight=510 lbs.

Thanks!

Mercury has always made great products. Buy American.

Well, the Verados are made here in the USA, for now. I doubt that will continue for too many more years. That factory in China is just calling, and calling, and calling.

with gas the way it is, you may be best off with the 4 plus there is the weight advantage by about 70 pounds.

That's a question I have on fuel cost. The boat I'm considering is a new Hurricane SD2000 that weighs about 3116 lbs, so I want to make sure I make the right decision with a balance of performance as well as fuel efficiency.
