I'm right at two years and 130 hrs. These photos show the issue

The zinc seems to be perfect

I'll do the outdrive removal deal in a couple of months. Just getting a head start on recommended repairs of these areas.

What might I have done, or not, (during install) to have such corrosion issues this soon?

Thanks

Have you contacted your dealer or Volvo directly about it? Shouldn't happen.

What type of water do you boat in? Are you sure you have the correct anodes for the type of water? Do you wet slip your boat or trailer it. If it is kept in the water and those anodes are original, they aren't working.

I agree with the others this should not happen being only 2 years old!! like thalasso said make sure you have the right type of anode. Magnesium for fresh water, aluminum for brackish and zinc for salt. your anode looks like brand new so I doubt it's working, one way to check is use a multimeter, put it on ohms (low) and test between each anode and it should be zero ohms. I would contact volvo about this also.

Just noticed that comment under your pictures, Was this a repower that you did? If so, did you hook up the bonding wires inside the boat properly?

Yes Don I did this repower. Thats why I ask that way. There was a bonding wire from the block to the t-shield and thats all there was.
Did I miss something? The OD "packet" was missing (had to get the cable hookups seperate, etc). Was there supposed to be a bonding cable in there also?

Man I'd be pissed if so.

Mostly boat in salt or brackish water. No fresh at all.

Thanks

I've never installed one of the SX-A models, so have no idea what is supposed to be hooked up where.

Re: 2010 SX-A corrosion issues

Well I've only done one.
Seems like there would be a bonding jumper between the ts and od otherwise the pivot shafts would have to make the connection.
How can I tell if this is a zinc or al or whatever anode?
Anyone out there with a newer sx-a that you might look for a bonding jumper?

Thanks

Just found your other bonding wire. Without this one, you will get corrosion.

Aluminum anodes are light in weight, zinc is heavy.

Don,
I just went and looked, I remembered that jumper and it is installed per your pic.
I believe that would bond the inner TS to the outer? I wonder if there should be one between the outer TS and the OD?
Quite sure there isn't one there.

Thanks so much Don
