2011 50TLDI New ergo tiller for my motor??

Today at the launch I saw a 40TLDI with the new ergo tiller handle.. It's what I've been waiting for...Very nice! This was in SW Louisiana.



will this fit my 2011 TLDI 50 ?? Currently have the plain tiller that came with it.

I just found this....

Not sure what is the "fisherman model" mentioned in the info...
Any idea of pricing?

Assuming you have an MD50B2, SN 014122AB or higher, yes.

I wonder what they mean by this then Paul, (From the link above)

"NB: this unit fits onto Pleasure(forward control units) only as an optional extra. NB: This unit does not fit Standard Fisherman (Tiller) models. The fisherman model comes with standard Tiller control unchanged."

Are the forward steer motors that much different or am I missing something

It means that if you have the 014121AB or lower that the new handle has no provision to be used. The mounts on the engine are not compatible between the new and older version.

Ok, That's interesting
Mine is the MD50B EFTOL EX with serial number 035268XK & it would be nice to have this tiller but still according to Tohatsu Australia the website says
"The Multi Function Tiller Handle is an optional extra that can be added to the MD50B2EPTOL (Pleasure / Forward control) model.NOTE: It does not fit onto the MD50B2EFTOL (Fisherman / standard tiller version).

MD50B2EFTOL ( Fisherman) comes with standard handle not Multi Tiller Handle."

Correct; it won't fit. Your serial (ending in XK) is below the threshold where the newer tiller handle mounts are used.

I contacted Tohatsu. This tiller handle has an MSRP of $750. Pretty pricey.

That's because you would never have to buy one unless you were going from remote to hand tiller.

I would actually like to upgrade the tiller on my 2012 TLDI. The short tiller length and shift paddle being mounted so far back is a real pain (I do a lot of gear shifting in the small channels and swamps).

PS, for anybody who is looking for them, the part number is 3GFQ630000M for the 40B & 50B, and 3AHQ630000M for the smaller 4-strokes (assuming you have a very late model with the newest steering shaft design).
