If I remove the brackets attached to the cap holding it to the floor how much will this molded section move up and down? I am going to try it but I wanted to ask and see if anybody here knows.

It will probably move a little, maybe an inch or so. The brackets are what hold it tight to the floor; without them, it will just be loose and wobble.

May even fly out when you trailer the boat

Thank you, about to start replacing carpet wasnt sure if I should even run the carpet all the way under there or not but probably best to put it back in the same places.
