225-175 Will it fit?

My long time Johnson guru has retired and left me for Florida so I'm hoping that the knowledge on this board can help me out.
I have a 1989 225 HP Johnson and I need to know if the lower unit is interchangeable with a 1987 175 HP Johnson.
Both are 25" shafts with trim.
If it is I am planning to buy the complete unit (bad power head) and hopefully get some other items that I need.
ANY help will be helpful. I tried something like this before but between updates and part# changes in the books the project was scrapped.

according to my parts program they use the same drive shaft so I think you could.

Thanks for the info. Also wondering about the water tube, shift linkage and gear ratio. I was hoping to swap over the whole unit instead of a tear down and rebuild.
