Newbie here - didn't learn about all the ficht problems til after I bought one. Ran GREAT all last year. Went to winterize, engine wouldn't start. Fooled around, didnt do anything meaningful, eventually, engine starts. Gets winterized, sits. Runs great at spring start-up, no sign of prior problems until two weeks ago. Had to get towed in. Call mechanic, he thinks problem is in the Start Assist. I order new part. While waiting for the part, I put in new batteries, and just for kicks, I go and crank the engine. It starts! Great. Buy some bait, invite the friends, Sat. AM, boat cranks but won't start. Install new SAC, no start. NO ONE here, not even the evinrude dealer across the creek, will work on these engines!! Now what? I have the software, but haven't figured out how to run it on this computer. Check engine light never has come on. I am not a mechanic, but a willing learner. Questions: 1. Given that this is an intermittent problem, does that rule out a lift pump, or fuel line problem? All fuses are OK. 2. Would that then point to a relay (air temp, etc.) problem? Would a relay work sometimes and not others? 3. Is there any market for these engines? Engine is a 1999 Ficht 225. Runs really sweet, when it starts.

you need to take it to a real EVINRUDE DEALER
Ficht engines need to hook to a computer by a
evinrude mechanic who can fix the problem and not guess what wrong. That dealer across the creek must not know how to work on evinrude ficht or he would have hook it up on a computer.
Guessing cost more than having a real dealer fixing the problem.
