i have 2 1996 225 ocean pro's that stall out everytime i put them in reverse. Boat runs great in forward. Anyone have any clues where to start?

Well...I have an idea, but the fact that you say you have both engines doing it confuses me a bit.
There is a shift switch that, when wired correctly, kills three cylinders when shifting to ease the shifting process.
If the powerpack kill plug is wrongly connected to the shift switch wire lead...it would kill all cyls instead of just three. But, turning the key off, would only kill three....a very confusing problem here.
Anyway, look at the shift switch circuit...wires run up from the shift linkage near the base of the lowest carb, on the starboard side, to the powerpack. Should have a black and a black/yellow in a wire loom.
Did you have both powerpacks replaced recently?

also may need to set idle speed up just a little.

Sounds like a good place to start. I did have a power pack changed last year but did not have the problem then. Thanks for the info

When the shift intrupter works correctly it only works coming out og gear into neutral, not from neutral going into gear.
