Thank you for posting. That T-stat housing is expensive, hope mine is not the problem. Do you happen to know the engine water pump part number?

Will do. For the fun of it, whats your educated guess as to what's my main culprit here. Thanks again, will update with some results next week.

Easy to think that because one side stays cool they both must be getting water. Not so. All it takes is a big flake of rust to totally change the flow, and I guarantee you have lots of those, you should see what gets built up in the outdrive where the exhaust turns a corner and deposits chunks of rust from the motor.

You must start pulling cooling system apart and inspecting cleaning, replacing gaskets or rotted out parts. Beats hell out of a blown engine 20 miles from the dock.

Easiest and cheapest way to start , Found mine out the hard way . Old 228 outdrive replaced was pumping circulating good . New wasn't ,lead to back flushing and hooking 3/4 hose in back of gimble housing .Then when pulling hoses cast bib broke n when I opened every thing that was ready to come loose in an engine was in on top of thermostat .Just never let get hot when trouble shooting . Lost my new lower unit impeller in troubleshooting .Old lowerer unit pumped in my test barrel but new wouldn"t cause all air let in . I will never complain about changing a automotive one again after this .haha I was warned about my bucket from folks on here , had just helped buddy on same 5.0 bayliner Volvo couldn't get his to pump till pulled hose off from power steering heat exchanger to tstat hose .
