24 volt wiring

Is it possible to run 4 batteries together on a 24 volt system. Paired in parallel then in a series for 24? I dont have a clue but mine dont seem to run for long periods of time. They are fairly new. Im running a 24 volt 82lb greatwhite digital motorguide. Thanks, swade

Yes - that wiring can be used. You may have at least one bad battery that is sucking the life out of the other one it is paralleled with, and that in turn affects the 24V output. You should have all four batteries load tested.
