I just got a new boat with dual motors (V8's) one side has 2-12volt batteries wired inline, I'm guessing that its a 24volt system? the gauges work on that side, the other moter has only 1 large truck 12volt battery hooked up to it and the gauges are not working for that motor, can the gauges be 24volt?? and if so wouldnt the work if the battery switch was on both batterys?? any info about 24volt systems would be great, I never owned one before..Thanks

What are the motors?

Describe how the two batteries are connected.

Re: 24volts or 12volts

Shown below are two batteries wired in "parallel" which is still a 12V system. The two batteries simply act like one great big one.

Here is an example of two batteries wired in series. This system provides 24V. It is highly unlikely your boat is wired for 24V operation. For purposes of this discussion -- ignore the dotted lines shown as accessory feeds.

You will need to draw a picture and post it here so we can help you determine what you have and how to use it properly -- and apparently how to fix the gauges on the other engine.
