the 231 weighs 3600#, with 2 people and 70 gal of gas, probably about 4300#. i only have about 8 hrs on this motor. the dealer tested the boat when the motor was installed and said it would run 50 mph @ 6000 rpm. i tried it last week and got only 44 mph @ 5500 rpm. everyone is telling me that it should turn at least 6000 rpm. i went out sunday and wot and kept trimming the motor up. mph and rpm kept rising and i finally backed off 49 mph (gps) @ 5900 rpm. i guess thats fast enough. i thought the motor was comming out of the water, but both mph and rpm were still rising when i backed off. i appreciate your response.
