Put the boat in water and ran like a top for 30 minutes then no power but would try to giddyup but wouldn't. Pulled plug wore to f ok be it broken. Took engine home, replaced wires but still no start. Has good spark but carb flooded and leaking out the choke plate opening. Poulled carb to find that the reed plate screw pt# 302104 had backed all the way out. Would this cause a no start/flooding condition? Seems like no fuel making it into cylinders.

I assume you tightened that up and it still didn't start? Would not be the first time a carb or cover bolt found it's way to the reeds.

Does spark jump a gap of 5/16" or more on both leads, yes or no ?----Spark on plugs is not a good test.---That loose screw might allow the reed plate to flex open a wee bit and that leads to lower crankcase compression.

Screw is back in but haven't had time to instal the carb. Maybe today. Question is, would that screw missing lead to a no start, carb flooding out, and what seems to be no fuel getting into cylinders?

That missing screw has nothing to do with the carburetor flooding !-----Did you find the screw ?-----It is possible the reed plate gasket is blown out.------You would have no crankcase compression.----That would be reason for " no start " condition.----Investigate and fix.

reed plate gasket is 5 months old probably my fault i didn't torque down the screw enough. i don't remember, does that screw go all the way through and if so, would that opening create the same vacuum problem as the reed plate gasket being blown?

Usually the stray bolt in the reed makes it run like it dropped a cylinder. It will start but run like poo.

Ok, so I tried another known working carb. Same issue. Engine starts, runs for 30 seconds, then stalls. Gas leaking from front of carb. Pull carb drain and repeat, same issue. Original carb is freshly rebuilt except for fixed hi speed jet. Pulled lower end and water tube grommet on pump housing is hashed open from last install to the point I know it was leaking bad. Could this be the cause of my problems? Top of pump housing was oil coated along with black oily substance. Coming from little vent holes on lower end.
