Hello, I just previously bought a boat and motor from my uncle. the motor is a 1985 25xd(hp)mercury outboard. He told me that the motor was running a little funny the last time he drove it. so i decided to try it out for myself. What it seems to do is when you first start it,it runs a little ruff, but then it smoothes out a little but it does not want to go full throttle. You can twist it full but you don't get a lot of movment. and you can hear sometimes a burp of juice like it wants to take off. after it seems to run for a little the motor will eventually scream in to WOT as you would call it. and runs good. I heard a million thing that people say could be wrong with it anywhere from a coil,staiter?,carb, and so on. I checked the fuel filter and it was really clean the gas was pretty much run out of it so i filled it up with all new gas same problem, my uncle said he had replaced the plugs when he had it and that didn't seem to work.sorry about being so long.
