hi there! Have a 30ft searay with twin inboard cooled 260 mercruisers..
Port engine Recently overheated while underway and the T piece in the cooling hoses had rusted and leaked coolant.
Replaced part and refilled coolant however still overheats when gears are engaged and revving above 2000rpm.
however while in neutral, the engine can sit on over 2000rpm with no rise in temp..

unless, because the T piece is on a 45degree angle i have actually put it in backwards and the flow is restricted, is there a specific direction the pipes should flow on these inboard cooling systems?
(the 3rd pipe from the T leads to a silver tank in between the 2 engines which i assume is some sort of heat exchanger or resevoir)

any help would be great cheers!! :)

havnt touched the impellor yet are you able to tell me how to locate on this engine?
there are 2 cooling hoses coming from the top of the engine above the flywheel, these were connected by a copper Tpiece with a smaller hose coming off it at 45degree angle heading to the cylinder in between the engines i mentioned.. from memory i dont think the other engine had one of these in the line... so not sure what the cylinder is actually for.. unless its a hot water unit heated by radiator fluid..
