2004 Formula 27 PC - I've got what sounds like a pump or motor noise from the very front of the bow under the windlass. You can hear it outside the boat. It's not the windlass and the only other thing located in this area, according to the schematic diagrams, is the front cabin speakers. The stereo is off. The only way to stop it is to turn off the port battery switch. Does anyone have any ideas? It almost sounds like a bilge pump stuck on, only louder, but there is no pump in this area as far as I am aware.

Welcome!
Just guessing here, but could it be the windlass solenoid? They are typically mounted close to the windlass. It’s possible that due to corrosion or age it’s stuck and the contacts are ‘fluttering”. I’d try to operate it a few times and see if the noise stops or the windlass fails to work. Good luck!

Here’s what I’d check:
  1. Locate the solenoid (trace the wiring from the windlass motor if necessary).
  2. Inspect for signs of corrosion, heat damage, or stuck contacts.
  3. Try operating the windlass a few times as suggested — if it’s sticking, that may reset it temporarily or cause it to fail outright (which also confirms the issue).
  4. If you're not using the windlass regularly, consider installing a dedicated switch or breaker in the circuit to fully isolate it when not needed.

It's probably the relay and you need to remove the head board to get at it

To verify before doing it, go to the engine room on the port side above the Batteries and trip the windlass breaker

I use to own a 27PC
