I posted Nov 15 about a 225 Johnson Looper 1989. One year ago a rebuilt powerhead was installed by local mechanic who Ive found removed the tsats. As per your recommendations we put tstats in. We had to test it out of course so went offshore out of Port Aransas Texas and recently got some tuna and amberjack. It was great trip and only fouled plugs once on the way out as the increased temps now where loosing up some carbon. Upon return we took the carb faceplate off to spray engine tuner in that is supposed to help break down the carbon deposits. While doing this we noticed that there is a spray of gasoline coming out from the middle carb on the starboard side of the engine. Stuck float? Bad reed valves? The service manual we ordered is not here yet and the fish are biting!!!!

My guess would be a bad/broken/chipped/stuck reed.

Could be a reed hanging open slightly or perhaps a bad/out-of-place reed box gasket.

BTW -- never run the motor over an idle with the airbox cover off. It'll lean out and damage a piston.

There is a schrader valve on the primer to hook the decarb to.

Good luck!

i would check all the recirculatory system first, along with making sure there isnt any air leaks around that carb & its side plate.
