My boat has 2 seperate shore power connectors. One for reg shore power, the other for the A/C.
At my slip, there is only one 4 prong socket and 2 household type 3 prong on a GFI. I usually use a regular extension cord with a 4 prong 30 amp adapter for running shore power on the boat. I use a 30 amp shore power cord for the A/C. The A/C line has no problem, but as soon as I plug it in, the GFI on the other cord trips at the socket. If I unplug the A/C cord, the smaller cord works fine. Hope this makes sense. Any ideas?

Mark

Ground issues between the two types of outlets at the slip. You can buy a very inexpensive outlet tester at home centers, or if you have a voltmeter, you can check the outlets for proper grounding and reversed hot-neutral.

I suspected that. Perhaps my adapter is wired incorrectly. Came with the boat. It adapts the 3 prong to 4 prong at the boat. I'll check it with the meter next time I'm down. Thanks for your help.
