Didn't realize it had been patched until I took the manifold off. Saw the JB Weld and wire brushed it off. Engine runs great and didn't mix oil with water.

Is this a scrap it and move on deal or patch it back up it should hold with proper winterization in the future.

If the crack is also internal, then you will need a new block.
Epoxy the outside crack and pressure check the block after draining. It should hold air pressure.

Shouldn't there be some kind of sign if there is an internal crack?

How does the pressure test work? Any links to the process?

Thanks

What do you have to lose! Hit it with epoxy and roll the dice but do the pressure test.

It's what I did! After a pressure test of course. Just to make sure water wasn't going into the oil.

Heh, the exact same place too! Only mine was a lot longer, maybe 8 inches or so?

If it's of any use to you, after I made sure the crack wasn't into the oil, I used a wire wheel on a grinder to clean that thing up really good, then degreased it, and put two separate coats of JB weld on it. I didn't use the quick dry stuff, I used the regular slow dry kind. First day first coat, next day a second coat.

I hope it works out for you. I intend to run mine until it starts leaking again, then rinse and repeat.

It's definitely not getting into the oil.
