I am the third owner of this 1993 Bayliner Classic 19'. The engine is a Mercruiser 3.0L 181 cu 4 cylinder (S/N OD838683)with a Mercruiser Alpha 1 Gen 2 outdrive. I pulled the motor to repair a broken starter bolt and found several other areas that need attention. The exhaust manifold requires replacement, so I went searching on the internet. My original was bolted to the engine with three bolts and two studs with nuts. I found two types of manifolds, one with five bolt holes and one with six bolt holes. On the head there is six threaded holes (my thinking - six bolts would be better then 5 for sealing). I was wondering if I could use either manifold type. The carb is a MercCarb with one mixture screw.
Thank you.

Re: 3.0L 5 or 6 bolt Exhaust manifold

Bondo,
Thanks for the fast reply. The first picture shows the manifold as a one piece and the one I have is more like the second picture. I have the seperate end caps. When I look at my manifold, I can see the bolt hole on the inside however, on the outside the area (where the bolt hole should be) is machined flat. Maybe the manifold was supposed to have six holes and they forgot to drill it out??. Being the third owner and not knowing the other owners, makes me unsure of what has been replaced in the past. Looks like you are saying that any one of the three will work and I feel better about that. Thank you.
