3.0l Mercruiser bogs down at wot

Hey guys,

I just ran my boat today, 97 Bayliner capri with a 3.0l Mercruiser.

It ran great for about 7 miles then it acted like it ran out of gas even though I had filled up the tank before we left the dock.

We ended up idling all the way back in for 4 miles or so. If I tried to go any faster than idle the motor would bog down and die. It would just barely run forward.

We let the motor sit for 10 minutes then it would crank up and run fine for 300 yards or so before the problem happened again.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

fuel delivery maybe.
anti-syphon stuck,
fuel pump weak/shot
clogged filters
clogged carb

Where would you start?

The weirdest part of the whole problem is that it works and runs fine for miles, then acts up.

It did the same thing to me 2 days in a row.

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

I added an inline fuel/ water separater by Yamaha.

I took the boat out and ran it for over an hour without any problems.
