Hot start does not need choke. It needs less or no choke so make sure the choke butterfly is standing straight up on a hot engine. When an engine is shut off, the temperature actually rises a bit before it begins to cool down. So always let the engine idle for a minute or two before shutting down, especially after a long hard run. This prevents run-on (commonly called dieseling) after the key is shut off and helps prevent fuel percolatin in the carb float bowl. The percolating fuel sends fuel vapors into the intake manifold where it puddles as it cools and causes a flooding scenario. Upon restart, always crack the throttle (use the throttle/shift disconnect button/leverl) to give the engine some air during the initial start..
