3.5 sears motor no thrust

my 3.5 hp sears motor runs fine but is not pushing my boat. Its running but there is no thrust, it was running fine down the creek and then just quit pushing my boat. This motor stays in gear can anyone help?

Welcome to iboats.

Sounds like you sheared the prop shear pin. Take the nut and cotter pin off and remove the prop. There should be a pin that goes through the propshaft and holds the prop in place. My guess is that pin is broken. Take the pieces to a marine dealer and get a couple of new ones.

Tape the extra one on the inside of the cowling so it will be handy if it happens again.
